JOHN GORDON WRIGHT JULY 4, 1943 - APRIL 20, 2023 J ohn Gordon Wright, ACE, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, aged 79, with his family at his side, after fight- ing a brave battle against cancer. He began his storied editing career with The James Company some 50 years ago and quickly became recognized for his unique talent, moving into the realm of feature film editing with such movies as "Life Goes to War: Hollywood and the Home Front" (Eddie Award), and "Acapulco Gold." Amongst his 43 editing credits are such movies as "Frances," "X-Men, " "Secretariat," and "The Incredible Hulk." For director Mel Gibson, he worked on "The Passion of the Christ" and "Apoc- alypto." For director John McTiernan, he edited "The Thomas Crown Affair," "Last Action Hero," and "The Hunt for Red October," for which he was nominated for an Oscar. He was also Oscar-nomi- nated for "Speed," and won an Emmy and an ACE Eddie for "Sarah, Plain and Tall." John was a member of the Motion Picture Academy, the Televi- sion Academy, and American Cinema Editors. John leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Jane, his daughter Amy and his son Cort, as well as grandsons Edgar, Holden and Dash, and son-in-law Whit.
