48 SAG-AFTRA | Spring 2023 | sagaftra.org Scene Around CONNIE STEVENS HONORED FOR UNION SERVICE F ormer Screen Actors Guild Secretary-Treasurer Connie Stevens received the 2022 Ralph Morgan Award on Nov. 22. The award, named after the first president of SAG, recognizes individuals who have showcased dedicated service to their fellow members and is the highest honor awarded by the Los Angeles Local. Stevens joined both legacy unions in 1957 and served as secretary-treasurer 2005-2009, as well as on numerous national and local committees. Said Stevens' daughter Joely Fisher, SAG-AFTRA's current secretary-treasurer, "My mother's star still shines so bright, [but] it is her life of activism and service that inspires me the most. … My dreams are coming true, in that I might be able to bring to fruition some of what she fought for in the position she once held as secretary-treasurer of Screen Actors Guild." STAFF KUDOS: Arianna Ozzanto, SAG-AFTRA chief financial officer since 2009, has made investing resource site Finance & Investing's 2023 list for Top CFOs in Los Angeles. The annual list recognizes individuals at the forefront of innovation at some of the world's most notable organizations. During the 2021 SAG-AFTRA National Convention, she received the George Heller Memorial Award, a top honor awarded to members and staff who showcase exemplary union service. POWER PLAYER: SAG-AFTRA Executive Director, New York Local, Labor Policy and International Affairs Rebecca Damon has been named to PoliticsNY's 2023 Labor Power Players List, recognizing Damon's efforts toward strengthening the city's right-of-publicity and digital image rights laws, and the Local's continued support of the state's film and television tax incentives. During the 2019 SAG-AFTRA National Convention, Damon received the George Heller Memorial Award. SHOWING SPIRIT: SAG-AFTRA National Director, Voiceover Treslyn Williams, a union employee of 36 years, was presented the Don LaFontaine Spirit Award Feb. 8 by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation for her dedication, commitment and work to support, protect and negotiate on behalf of SAG-AFTRA members working in voiceover. The award is named for the late, great voiceover legend Don LaFontaine.
