THE PERFECT ISLAND PARADIE FOR THAT INTIMATE MEETING B Y B U C K S A M U E L S A safe and peaceful community, the island of Anguilla is easy to explore with wonderful places and people to meet from end to end. Beautiful sand, near-per- fect weather and delightful water temper- atures may make it nearly impossible to leave your spot on the beach, but taking the time to explore the island (there are 33 beaches, after all, each more beautiful than the previous), meeting locals as you go, is guaranteed to enhance your stay. This island, like many Caribbean desti- nations, serves as a unique setting for small to medium size groups and gather- ings. The ambiance and rejuvenating energy of Anguilla is sure to leave dele- gates feeling refreshed AND satisfied. There is no reason conference attendees can't handle some business and relax in paradise at the same time. Anguilla offers a range of accommoda- tions, from world-class hotels and luxury resorts to luxury villas, guesthouses, self- catering apartments, and cottages, to suit a variety of tastes and budgets. The "Charming Escapes Collection" is com- prised of select hotels, villas and inns. The beauty of Anguilla is that the geo- graphical backdrop can be used for unique meeting space. The island is per- fect for planning family reunions, wed- dings, fraternity/sorority gathering and small to medium size business retreats. With more than 100 fine dining and local restaurants, Anguilla is an epicure- an's delight. Caribbean flavors have been fused with international cuisines to create a wide range of dishes. Seafood features heavily on Anguillan menus, with local crayfish and whole lobster or grilled snap- per, swordfish and Mahi-Mahi among the specialties. Whether your group is traveling for business or pleasure Anguilla has an abundance of activities guests can con- sume their free time with. One of the main things tourists love to do in the Caribbean is PLAY on the beach. Try out some of the numerous watersports, like diving and snorkeling; sport fishing; sail- ing; windsurfing, kite-surfing, paddle boards and kayaking. If guests want to stay inland there are a variety of land sports to pick from, like bird watching; golf, tennis, horse riding, cave treks, art gallery hopping and sightseeing historical sites and natural attractions. On almost any night of the week, but particularly on the weekends, it's possible to hear live music in Anguilla. The island is brimming with talent, from international touring acts like Omar Banks, and Panther Vibes International to locally based entertainers Natalie, Sprocket, Veer Music, Springer, BOSS and his Horsepower Band, AIM, Amelia Witty, True Intentions, and more. Travelers can catch some of these artists and/or shows around the island at bars and var- ious festivals. Creative, passionate, peaceful expres- sions abound. From canvases of color and driftwood carvings, to the sounds of steel pan and guitar, the island articulates its joy of life through music, art, poetry and dance. The individual celebrates cre- ativity with complete freedom on Anguilla. Explore some great art and food at the Hibernia Restaurant and Art Gallery as well as other privately owned galleries around the island. A valid passport (with at least six months before expiration) and return and onward tickets are required for all visitors to Anguilla. Green card holders must have a valid green card and valid passport from their country of origin Clayton J. Lloyd Airport is situated on the immediate outskirts of The Valley, the island's main administrative and commer- cial center. The runway is 5,440 feet and can accommodate small to medium size aircraft including most corporate jets.
