BY SOLOMON J. HERBERT II M any southern destinations create the perfect environment for planning events of a multitude of sizes. There are several reasons that play a role in why this region is a Meeting Planner favorite when it comes to booking events. Larger southern cities like Atlanta, Miami, Nashville and Charlotte have an impressive selection of meeting spaces coupled with the big city feel while still maintain- ing that reputation of providing good old-fashioned 'Southern Hospitality'. Destinations like Birmingham, Savannah, Baton Rouge and Virginia Beach all provide Meeting Planners and leisure travelers alike more affordable options for holding small to midsize events. These cities often provide travelers with the most authentic experiences showcasing the hidden jewels of the south, from historically Black colleges to historical sites, telling the stories of African-American evolution in the southern regions. Meeting down south has its perk, being that different southern destinations have their own geographical differences, which create com- pletely different experiences providing planners with multiple options for coordinating their groups' event based on customized needs. Whether your goal is to take in the sun on the sands of Virginia Beach or Palm Beach the SOUTH offers these experiences. Or groups can choose to meet in the heart of the Civil Rights movement in Birmingham. Options are limitless when deciding to meet in the South!
