B M & T ••• May/June 2023 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 14 P uerto Rico is an archipelago that's divided into 78 munic- ipalities that are all unique, and open for business. Although San Juan, the capital, offers numerous hotel and accommodation choices, there are many options the offer breath taking beaches and stunning landscapes throughout the island. A beach lover's paradise, the archi- pelago consists of the main island, four small islands, and more cays and islets than you can count. Puerto Rico is truly one of the most beautiful, cap- tivating destinations in the Caribbean. A place where African, Spanish and Tainos influences come together in a vibrant cohesion of cultures, nowhere is this better exemplified than in the wide range of accommodations that Puerto Rico offers. From colonial style B&B's, to upscale boutiques, to five- star resorts, Puerto Rico has lodging to fit every taste and budget. For your meetings or conventions, the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino is considered a modern urban resort in San Juan. Located in San Juan's Convention Center District, the Sheraton Puerto Rico is just steps away from one of San Juan's most exciting new venues, Distrito T-Mobile. Located just ten minutes from the international airport, and five minutes from Old San Juan, the Sheraton Puerto Rico is an excellent choice in San Juan. A short walk from the Sheraton you'll find the Hyatt House San Juan, an extended stay hotel that invites you to rest and recharge in one of their 126 spacious rooms. All suites include a fully-equipped kitchen and a sleeper sofa. Across the street you'll find the Hyatt Place, a place where business meets pleasure. And both properties are within walking distance to the Puerto Rico Convention Center. The centerpiece of the district is the Puerto Rico Convention Center, widely known as the largest and most tech- nologically advanced venue in the Caribbean. And if 600,000 square feet of space wasn't enough, a new 44,000- square-foot plaza at Distrito T-Mobile will soon house outdoor stages and the region's largest LED screen. Known for its gorgeous shorelines, Puerto Rico also offers a colorful his- toric charisma that goes back 500 years. Old San Juan is the most popu- lar destination and the perfect place to stay in the city of San Juan if you want to explore the historical land- marks, great music from jazz to classic, and bars and nightclubs that will invite you to party until dawn. While Old San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde and surrounding areas are great places to stay, these desti- nations are just the tip-of-the-ice- berg of what Puerto Rico offers in BY MATT THOMAS San Juan, Puerto Rico skyline as viewed from Condado Beach
