Patricia Boulden In 2017, I wanted to take my career in- ternational and joined the Costume De- signers Guild. This gave me new knowl- edge of the industry and the American market, which facilitated working with designers from 892 and New York's Local 829. I have been a member of Toronto's IA Local 873 for over 20 years and have worked as a four-term Costume Commit- tee Recording Secretary. That commit- tee helps the membership implement the union contract and understand its importance. I saw that the costume de- partment was being routinely left out of the important discussions of crewing, workable space, and of course major is- sues like fair wages. I immediately joined the CDG Pay Equity Committee and have been honored to work with wonderful fellow CDG members. As a recently elect- ed 873 delegate, I hope to continue the conversation with the IA International and represent my local at upcoming con- ventions. I have just finished work on an untitled feature, Sofia Coppola's adapta- tion of Priscilla Presley's memoir of her life with husband Elvis Presley. Working with CDG member, costume designer Stacey Battat, in Toronto was an incredi- ble opportunity. Photos: Courtesy of Patricia Boulden Top: Clarice, CDs Marcia Scott & Leslie Kavanaugh.
