I'd like to end this column with a quick story from the Sounding Board gathering. A freshly graduated student came up to the MPSE table to thank us for putting on the event. He said he is just barely working, so the fact that it was free was a huge help to him. Then he talked about how blown away he was by his interaction with Shawn Holden. He said, "She's a legend. And I'm nobody. And I just, you know, walked right up and talked to her. And she was so nice. That is so amazing!" I share this with you because one of the best aspects of the MPSE is the outreach to newcomers. Our members' generosity with their time and expertise is inspiring the next generation, especially when they go the extra mile to bring the newbies into the fold.
