O R G Miguel Araujo MPSE The Invincible Spirit of Becky Sullivan Miguel Araujo is a South African- Portuguese supervising sound editor, ADR mixer, and re-recording mixer living in Vancouver, Canada. He is an active member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and serves as a director to the Board of both the Motion Picture Sound Editors and the Vancouver Post Alliance. Charles Maynes MPSE Traversing the Sonic Universe of Sweet Justice Charles Maynes MPSE is a working sound designer and sound editor and is a member of the MPSE Board of Directors his recent work includes the Paramount+/CBS dramatic series Seal Team. Korey Pereira MPSE Tech Corner Korey is the founder of Soularity Sound, a post-production sound company based in Austin, Texas. He also works with Soundcrafter and other Austin-based crews. Editorial credits include works directed by Richard Linklater, Robert Rodriguez, and David Gordon Green, among many others. Recently, he updated his studio to support Dolby Atmos mixing and has expanded into 360 spatial audio for VR. Since 2018, Korey has also been a lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, Department of Radio, Television and Film, where he teaches post sound. He has been an active member of MPSE since 2017. M PS E CO N TR I BU TO RS Christopher Assells MPSE AMPAS (retired 2020) Daddy's Day Out Chris has worked on five Oscar-winning sound jobs, has won seven Golden Reel Awards, one lonely Emmy, and had nominations too numerous to count (blush). Some of those awards were hard earned and some were "the right place at the right time" awards where he admittedly contributed little. He is now happily retired, probably listening to Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys and has no interest in Pro Tools updates, so don't even try. WE WELCOME CONTRIBUTIONS. PLEASE SEND SUBMISSIONS TO WAVELENGTH@MPSE.ORG Javier Quesada MPSE Sound and the Sensation of Film Part 1 Javier Quesada, was born on February 3, 1981 in Mexico City. In 2008 he graduated from SAE Barcelona where he studied the Audio Engineering program. In 2021 he finished his MA in Professional Practice (Film Sound Postproduction) in SAE London. In his career in post production, Javier has always searched for projects that present a challenge in their use of sound as a narrative tool. In 2019 he recieved the Golden Reel Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing for his work on Alfonso Cuaron's Roma. He is a member of MPSE. Steve Lee THSM Founder Sound Stories from Aladdin Steve Lee wonders to this day how he went from recording episodes of Disney's Wonderful World of Color off the TV onto audio cassettes as a kid, to creating and wrangling sound effects for Aladdin, The Lion King, and A Goofy Movie as an "adult." Today, besides writing anecdotes every season here in the Wavelength quarterly about his 30-year career in movie sound, he hosts webinars and other virtual programming for The Hollywood Sound Museum, which he created.
