M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S I 15 This is where Chameleon comes in. When you need to match a lav to an adjacent boom, Chameleon lets you learn the reverberance of the boom track and apply as much or as little as you need to match your adjacent lav. The process has become even simpler in version two of Chameleon when you want to quickly apply a setting to a clip and move on to the next. Depending on the mixer's preference, you can either bake the processing into the lav or create a fully processed (100% wet) version of the reverb on a track below the original unaltered clip. While I use Chameleon and DeRoom Pro regularly, I feel like I have only scratched the surface of what DeRoom Pro can do. I tend to create matches ad-hoc as I go through an edit, but you can just as easily build up a library of presets to use DeRoom Pro as your primary reverb on the stage. While I primarily use it to match booms and lavs, you could also (and I imagine many other users already do) use this process to match Foley or effects to the dialogue. DeRoom Pro also offers the option to export a .wav file as an impulse response which can then be used with your convolution reverb plug-in of choice. I have been a user since version one of both these tools. My biggest complaint with the original versions was the lack of iLok support. Luckily, version two brought iLok support to both Chameleon and DeRoom Pro. While they are offered separately, the Reverb Tools bundle offers both for a bit of a discount. Reverb matching and reverb reduction have both been processes I have struggled with finding a solution I could really get behind. I think Accentize finally got it right.
