Ging 9/10/2022 Wayne Grace 8/13/2022 Rob Gray 10/7/2022 William Grivna 7/12/2022 RICHARD FERRONE, award-winning audiobook narrator and chair of the SAG-AFTRA National Audiobook Steering Committee since its inception, died Oct. 3 at the age of 76. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Sept. 18. The wages and working conditions that audiobook narrators work under — continuing to grow to this day — exist in no small part from the singular efforts of this champion of union leadership. Ferrone was dedicated to his craft and his union, and served as a National and New York Local Board member, convention delegate, chair of the New York Audiobook Narrators Caucus and the New York Organizing Committee, co-chair of the MORE Committee and vice chair of MOVE New York and the National Organizing Committee. Once a lawyer for the Labor Department in Washington, D.C., he gave up law in the early '70s and joyfully began acting on stage, screen and behind the mic. He recorded over 150 audiobooks and received an Audie Award and four Audie nominations, as well as 12 AudioFile awards.
