EXTENDED FAMILY NEWS In Memoriam Michael Mosher (1965-2022) Make-up Artist Born in Connecticut and raised on a farm, Michael Mosher (front right in photo) received his first make-up kit as a Christmas gift. He studied directing, design and puppetry at the University of Connecticut, then moved to California to realize his dreams. He worked for several years as a Pink Contract member of Local 706 at the San Diego Opeera, the Old Globe Theatre, San Francisco Opera and La Jolla Playhouse. His vast skills and talents were fine-tuned, then he moved to Los Angeles to begin his career in film and television. Along the way, he became a magician utilizing skills that improved his abilities as a special make-up effects artist. It also made him a lot of fun to work with, as remembered by his co-workers. The majority of his more than 90 credits highlight his abilities as a special make-up effects artist and wigmaker. He did dozens of TV series and TV movies and was nominated for Best Hair & Makeup at the Speed Film Awards for The Teacher Among Us. Other noted credits include Titanic, Cowboys & Aliens, Snake and Mongoose, The Originals and Legacies. Mosher eventually moved from California to Georgia where he continued his expansive career as a make-up artist. His adventure as a department head make-up took him to India on The Return of the Thief of Baghdad. The experience was so exciting that it was published as a three-part article in First Hold magazine. Mike was generous with his talents and taught bald cap classes and made tattoo transfers. Sadly, it was reported that Michael Mosher succumbed to a heart attack in September.
