While most of the brushes have been converted to synthetic fibers, there are still four brushes in the FX kit that have natural fibers in them. "They are the two we use for stippling because they create a unique pattern when they are wet with product. I still haven't found a synthetic fiber that can replicate this specific texture, so that is why there are still these few natural fiber brushes in the line. There are also the boar bristle brushes which are used for cleaning hairpieces and applying spirit gum. You still need the stiffness of the boar bristle brushes to gently clean the adhesives out of lace pieces." Ve also shares tips on how to care for your brushes. She doesn't recommend soaking any brush for long periods of time and walking away, especially solvents like acetone or as any cleaner can loosen the glue from the base. "It's important to understand how your brush is held together and also what will best clean the fibers. If the brushes are round at the base, before the ferrule, they are only glued in. If they are crimped at the ferrule, they are glued and crimped. With synthetic fiber brushes, I recommend cleaning them with 99% alcohol for removing most product. I also recommend washing them once a week with some soap and water, which can remove any residual residue. Also, you don't want any softener on your synthetics because it will leave them greasy. Those brush cleaners are best for your natural bristle brushes." Ve's favorite brushes are available online and professional retailers. Ve continues to support her fellow artists providing a professional discount.
