MAY ROUTH Born in India, May Routh attended boarding school in England, then began her career at Saint Martin's School of Art. After a brief foray into fashion, she transitioned into modeling and fashion illustration for publications like ogue and Elle. She married a fellow student, Adrian Bailey. Although photography eclipsed illustration, art became a touchstone for her life. Writer Len Deighton asked Routh to assist costume designer Anthony Mendelson on the fi lm Oh! What a Lovely War. He then recommended her to vonne Blake. When Routh sketched The Three Musketeers for Blake, she fell in love with production designer Brian Eatwell. They moved to the nited States.
