J U L Y / A U G U S T 2 0 2 2 | P E R S P E C T I V E 1 7 Hugo Maldonado H U G O M A L D O N A D O Hugo Maldonado is a Chicano Illustrator and Graphic Artist noted for his work on Will & Grace and The Big Bang Theory. Hugo is a Los Angeles native, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. He is a member of the Art Directors Guild Local 800 and has been recognized for his work on multi-camera television series. His most recent TV credits include Night Court (2022), and How I Met Your Father, alongside Glenda Rovello. Hugo began his career collaborating with Melissa McCarthy VALLERO! is a Western comic book series following the life of infamous outlaw, Fernando Valle. After a failed heist attempt in Texas, Fernando sets out to regroup with his fi erce band of bandito brothers "Los Valleros." As a wanted man, Fernando encounters many adventures and misfortunes along with new mysterious friends and foes. Fernando must break his gang free from jail before it's too late and lead them back to their glory days of fame and fortune. VALLERO! captures the magic and nostalgia of the Wild West, as well as showcases a Hispanic lead and shows that the anti-hero is not always the villain of the story. 'Sometimes life deals you a bad hand, but it's what you do with that hand that defi nes you.' VALLERO! represents the unsung heroes who fi ght for a second chance. In 2016, he joined Chuck Lorre Productions as part of John Shaff ner's Art Department team on The Big Bang Theory and Mom. Hugo has always been infl uenced by animated features and series, as well as graphic novels, which has lead him to creating his own stories and characters. His fi rst project is VALLERO!, which is now available at Barnes & Noble and Walmart.
