Once we got past the formalities, reality sunk in. e had a long road ahead and needed to get started. ith a talented team on board, the rt Department could all focus on the actual ob at hand. I wanted to keep the set designs grounded and historically correct as much as possible. Gaslit is a story centered on the world of conservative, white Republicans in ashington D.C. in the s. ohn Mitchell was born in and Martha in . This meant that ohn was a man who had been through the Great Depression. is teenage years took place in the 's and 's, so he wasn't a cuttingedge type of guy, but rather his taste was very conservative and felt more refl ective of the 's. Martha's formative years took place in the s in Pine luff , rkansas. These ages and places were important to the design given that we were creating the home of these characters. ith the exception of a few establishing shots in ashington D.C., the entirety of Gaslit production was fi lmed in Los ngeles. Most of the show was shot on niversal Studios sound stages or backlot with the remaining sets being modifi ed. In addition to niversal, the production shot on location all over Los ngeles from Malibu to oreatown, Pasadena and Downtown L.
