40 • LMGI COMPASS | Summer 2022 Standing on a windy outcropping on Torr Head in Northern Ireland, supervising location manager Naomi Liston/LMGI can look out over the Sea of Moyle with its pods of dolphins to the shores of her home country, Scotland. "You look into the Mull of Kintyre and Campbeltown, that's the peninsula, and you've got the Isle of Jura going beyond that. I know every bit in Northern Ireland where I can see back home." In the ctional world of The Northman, the smash Viking saga directed by Robert Eggers, Torr Head is home. The rst scene opens on the lm's young protagonist Prince Amleth in his father's kingdom of Hrafsney—an easily defensible enclave on a steep hill overlooking grass-combed cliffs that plod palely into the ocean like waders' calves. Liston chose the remote Torr headlands on the Antrim Coast for their severe pastoral beauty and pristine panoramic views.
