We hope you were able to attend. (There was no excuse not to, with it being virtual.) We honored Ron Howard with our Filmmaker Award and Anthony "Chic" Ciccolini as our Career Achievement recipient. They both gave wonderful speeches, and we were honored to have them at the show. We are already working on next year's ceremony and expect it to include lots of amazing surprises. We are currently planning for an in-person event to mark the Golden Reel Awards 70th year. We will absolutely be going big for this special night! MPSE just hosted two Sound Advice shows that were our most highly attended ever. One offered an in-depth look at building a professional-quality mixing studio in the home. The other centered on sound work for the game series Metal Gear Solid. If you missed either one, you could catch them on the MPSE YouTube channel. Be sure to check your email or MPSE.org for the date of our next event, so you can watch live and be able to submit your questions to our panel of experts. As president, one of my goals is to bring back the annual MPSE picnic, which hasn't happened for quite a few years. One of the first events I attended as a newly minted MPSE member was the picnic, and I have fond memories of meeting the industry's best sound professionals. The opportunity to talk with them one-on-one was inspirational and great for networking. We are currently looking into venues, and hope to host a picnic before the end of summer. Keep a lookout for more details. Check the MPSE web page (mpse.org) regular for Sound Advice and other event information, and to purchase MPSE merchandise. Please, enjoy this quarter's Wavelength! Sincerely,
