ason was used to this approach; he has been a key part of the Daniels' team for just over a decade, working on a variety of projects, including music videos, short films, commercials and their last feature, Swiss Army Man. very project they've done has involved practical gags, intricate storytelling and loads of ambition. ver the years ason and the Daniels have developed a shorthand, and they knew ason's strengths would be key to moving the project forward. At the same time, working like this reuires a lot of trust. Because we were moving very uickly, as indie productions necessarily do, there wasn't much time to make formal presentations or create polished concept art. Most of our communication was via rough mockups and mood boards. Fortunately, most department heads on this film were friends and collaborators who had worked on past projects with the Daniels. This made it easier, from day one, to begin problem-solving and figure out how all the puzzle pieces fit together. A great number of scenes involved tricks that we had developed together over the years air cannons filled with debris, leaf blowers blowing hair, and other complex practical elementSFX VFXstunt gags that were carefully orchestrated between all departments. This is the only group of people that we've worked with, so far, that is able to accomplish such complicated gags without tremendous amounts of time and resources. A.
