Steven/Marc's Apartment The design process started with the main character's space, Steven/Marc's apartment. When fi rst entered, the apartment refl ects Steven's personality, a shy, neurotic lonely museum clerk with extensive knowledge and passion for Egyptian civilization. Everything in his place is about antiquity and especially about ancient Egypt. His place is an attic, with a sloped ceiling to give the feeling that he's under a pyramid. Books everywhere and a fi sh tank with an gyptian monument on the sandy fl oor, but there is also some mystery in the place, maybe somebody else inhabitants the space and reads the books. The corridor where he fi rst sees honshu was also built, I wanted to be very dark, in contrast with the Egyptian god appearing in white, like a dream. The British Museum It was very challenging to fi nd a space big enough to reproduce a national museum, and then set up an gyptian exhibit for the fi rst action seuence in it. The production rented an empty gallery with neoclassical architecture to resemble the museum. With the help of an amazing international department of sculptors and plasterers from Italy, France and Hungary, the crew reproduced more than one hundred fi fty gyptian antiuities, sculptures and murals, even logoed gifts for the shops. It was a four-month-long project just for this set. The bathroom where Steven transforms into a superhero was a set built with the intention to resemble a tomb with hieroglyphs. A.
