8 • THE ARTISAN SUMMER 2022 CRAFT EDUCATION FROM THE CRAFT EDUCATION PRESIDENTS CLAIRE ALEXANDRA DOYLE MAKE-UP CRAFT EDUCATION PRESIDENT My name is Claire Alexandra Doyle and I am thrilled to be your new Make-up Craft Education President; working together with your new Craft Education Secretary, Nicole Artmont. I've been a make-up artist for 22 years, and for the past 12, a proud roster member of our union. Over the years, I have made it a priority to frequently seek further education of all types to better my craft. That enthusiasm for learning something new is something I want to continue for all of us. I began volunteering and assisting with the Make-up Craft Education in 2018 & 2019. Being a part of past Craft Education allowed me to learn, be involved, plan, and most importantly, prepare myself to serve today. Be it the face or body, the techniques and technology for the work we create continue to evolve and be an extension of our creativity imaginations. Our talents and craft encompass everything to reflections of historical and cultural looks, current and futuristic, beauty and special effects, avant-garde and the unknown. Together, Nicole and I will update and refresh our Craft Education events. We are here to create these events for YOU, our members! Each event will be designed and assembled to touch upon the many aspects of make-up with technique demos, product education, brand introductions, gratis, and more! We've been busy arranging brands that embrace pro relationships, modern techniques, and keep on trend with our industry. We recognize and hear our members who are looking for introductions to both skills of the past, current, and future. We hear our members who also have an interest in their ethics being reflected in the products they use; be it cruelty-free or vegan, a company that has a social mission and/or are gender and ethnically diverse. We are working to update our events to be current with technology by creating hybrid education; hosting simultaneously in person and online. We recognize that our members and brands work and are based all over the world, and the time has come to make our Craft Education accessible to all its members. When I began my career, social media did not exist to what it has become today. We recognize this growing space in our professional careers and we are incorporating the importance and existence of social media with our brands and our events. We will continue to communicate through our union emails and online social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), establish and share professional discount information, and create fun social media opportunities. This will include, but not be limited to, creating a relationship with the brands that attend and also create opportunities to "close the loop"; examples include professional discounts and additional raffle prizes for our members after our events. Quality and high-end brands require time and care to curate JANI KLEINBARD HAIR CRAFT EDUCATION PRESIDENT My name is Jani Kleinbard and I am your new Hair Craft President, along with my talented friend and co-worker, Brenda Blatt as Hair Craft Secretary. I have been a 706 member in good standing for 31 years and Brenda has done so for 27 years. We are so excited for the 2022/2023 Hair Craft Education season with our fellow hair designers and artisans! Throughout our long careers, we have worked on a variety of projects that has taught us to think like an artist, listen to people, share our knowledge with others and to understand we will always be learning from others, even ourselves. We have value as people and artists, we can all continue our education by watching, asking, sharing and brainstorming with our co-workers and peers on the variety of projects that come our way. We have all trained hard and worked even harder to be able to enter into this wonderful and lofty industry. We've invested our time, hearts and souls into it and we always want to do our best in one of the most unique and elusive industries in the world. We are presently in contact with top companies to present a variety of hair extensions, toppers, wigs, barbers, braiders, haircutting, period work and tools.
