With a vibrant convention package bolstered by a multi-billion dollar transformation, St. Louis has what you need to hold a mem- orable and productive meeting, conven- tion or event. From the $380 million transformation of the grounds surround- ing the iconic Gateway Arch, to an ever expanding list of unique venues and loca- tions, St. Louis has world-class restau- rants, entertainment and attractions that will put the excitement into your next meeting. America's Center is conveniently located in the heart of downtown St. Louis close to hotels, dining, attractions, shopping, and public transportation. The Convention Center stop on St. Louis' MetroLink light rail system is less than two blocks away. The Cervantes Convention Center is part of the America's Center Convention Complex, consisting of 502,000 sq. ft. of exhibit and event space, a 28,000-sq. ft. ballroom, 1,400-seat theater and 67,000- seat domed stadium. The Gateway City is proud to be a melting pot, as people from all over the world have settled here and incorporated a myriad of cultural traditions into the diverse fabric of the region. Travelers are encouraged to explore the city and delve into some of the rich culture that makes up the blueprint of St. Louis. The Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis is one of America's most important historic sites. It was here that slave Dred Scott and his wife Harriett sued for their freedom in 1847. Scott won his case in St. Louis, but remained a slave for 10 years as appeals eventu- ally took the issue before the U.S. Supreme Court. The first St. Louis land grant to a woman of color, named only as Ester in the Spanish documents, was located in a historic district just north of the Gateway Arch. The site of the 1793 grant is now 721 – 723 North Second Street in Laclede's Landing. At Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, the fourth-largest cemetery in the country, visitors can pay their respects at the burial site of 1,068 mem- bers of the 56th U.S. Colored Infantry, which was organized in St. Louis in 1863 during the Civil War. This Frutiger makes it possible for vis- itors to fly to St. Louis from most major U.S. cities in three hours or less. St. Louis Lambert International Airport is sit- uated 13 miles from Downtown St. Louis and is connected to Downtown and much of the region by MetroLink light.
