Welcome from the adg president After two years of creatively working through the logistics of a pandemic era production, how exciting to welcome you to the return of in-person events, and the 26th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards. Tonight's festive event, honoring achievements in narrative design, celebrates professional excellence by narrative designers of film, television, streaming, commercials, animation, and other forms of media. The 3,000+ member Art Directors Guild is comprised of four major craft areas, encompassing wide-ranging skills, including Set Design & Model Making; Illustration & Matte Artists: Scenic, Title & Graphic Art; and Art Direction & Production Design. Each of these four Craft Councils have selected a member as their Lifetime Achievement Award honoree for their contribution to their craft legacies. This evening, we are pleased to celebrate the work of this year's recipients: Set Designer/Art Director Ann Harris, Concept Illustrator/Storyboard Artist Donna Cline, Scenic Artists Michael & Denise Okuda, and Production Designer Ida Random. Highlighting this year's festivities will be the presentation of the esteemed Cinematic Imagery Award to Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Jane Campion, whose films have included a depth of evocative and memorable images, and bestowing Academy Award nominee Denis Villeneuve with the William Cameron Menzies Award for his championing of the art of production design throughout his projects. The Cinemagundi, our beautiful ADG trophy, takes its name from the club formed in 1924 by 64 Hollywood Art Directors, and through time evolved into the Art Directors Guild. These member- designed crystal creations will find a new home with tonight's honorees. We are blessed to be a part of an amazing, exciting, and evolving profession in which we have the opportunity to express our creativity and talents. What a wonderful occasion to celebrate incredible visual storytellers and artists. While enjoying this evening's festivities, I hope you discover new facets of narrative design, and get to learn about many of the great visual storytellers who make the ADG the unique organization that has changed the way people have told and viewed stories for almost 100 years. Congratulations to all of this year's nominees and honorees. Here's to many more years of creatively delighting the eyes of moviegoers the world over, and serving to inform and amplify the stories of a generation of filmmakers.
