3 7 Films, from 1985 to 1995. After teaming with Brooks, she brought the novel War of the Roses (1989) to Gracie Films, and served as the film's producer. She also produced Broadcast News (1987), Say Anything (1989), I'll Do Anything (1994) and Bottle Rocket (1996), Wes Anderson's first movie for the company. Platt passed away on July 27, 2011, in Brooklyn, New York, after battling ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). She was survived by her brother Jack Platt, who has since passed in 2015; two daughters, Antonia Bogdanovich and Alexandra "Sashy" Bogdanovich, stepdaughter Kelly Wade; stepson Jon Wade; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. "She was my film directing mentor," says Garry Marshall, who worked with Platt on his directorial debut, Young Doctors in Love. "When I was setting up a shot, I would glance over to her, and she would put her finger in her mouth and make believe she was gagging, so I'd change the shot. She was very quick and blunt— this is good, this is bad—and she could do it from 20 feet away."
