people JESSICA HAWTHORNE-CASTRO Los Angeles-based Hawthorne Direct, a brand response agency, has promoted Jessica Hawthorne-Castro to COO. She had been the company's VP of operations/client services. Prior to joining Hawthorne Direct, HawthorneCastro had been a television literary agent with William Morris Endeavor. HAWTHORNE-CASTRO REUBEN NICK LOFTING VALERIE MCANDREWS Red Car New York has signed editor Nick Lofting, who joins from Crispin Porter + Bogusky LA, where he was the editor for the agency's in-house facility, Plus Productions. He got his start with Saatchi in the UK before moving to George Patterson Bates (Y&R) in Sydney. He then moved to London's Sam Snead Editing before taking his first position in the US with LA's Chrome. He then worked at other West Coast studios, including Union, Lost Planet and Jump. Also joining Red Car New York is staff producer Valerie McAndrews, who brings agency and post experience to the studio. Most recently she was at Scarlett, a post house dedicated to fashion, beauty and luxury brands. MATT DAW, ISAAC REUBEN LA-based pipeline tools developer Shotgun Software has promoted of Matt Daw to CTO. Daw previously led engineering/development for the company. He succeeds Shotgun co-founder Isaac Reuben, who is shifting to chief strategist to focus on overall company direction and development. Daw joined Shotgun in '07 from Australian VFX house Rising Sun Pictures. Prior to that, he was supervising technical director on Disney's animated feature The Wild while at CORE Feature Animation. He also spent time at Action Synthese in France and Topix in Toronto. Isaac Reuben co-founded Shotgun Software with Don Parker in '06 after working together to build an internal pipeline management tool while working on the film, The Wild. TABOR had worked together at the post house Nice Shoes in 2008 for two years. Publica- JASON TAYLOR LA-based production/design studio Blind has boosted its interactive talent with the addition of Jason Taylor, who comes to the studio with over a decade of experience as a creative technologist, designing interactive solutions and visual systems for brands that include Audi, BMW, Intel, USA Network, Oprah/Harpo Studios, NEC, Nestea and Kohler. Blind's relationship with Taylor spans over 10 years. Prior to joining Blind, he was at Hello Design and The Royal Order, Britannica and Leapnet. ERIK-JAN DE BOER, JAMES JACOBS, KEITH ROBERTS, CHRIS WEBB Method Studios has added three animation artists to team. Erik-Jan de Boer, recipient of this year's Oscar for Visual Effects for his work on Life of Pi, joins Method's Vancouver office as animation supervisor. Joining him in Vancouver is creature supervisor James Jacobs, another Oscar-winning artist, who received the 2013 Tech Oscar for character simulation software used in Avatar. Also new is animation supervisor Keith Roberts, who will work in Method's LA office. He joins from Rhythm & Hues, where he worked on The Chronicles of Narnia, The Cabin in the Woods and The Incredible Hulk. Method's Chicago office has brought on Chris Webb as executive producer. Over the last 13 years, Webb has worked as an agency producer in both New York and LA for ad agencies Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Cramer-Krasselt. CRAIG GORDON NYC's DuArt, a video, digital media, and film post facility, has added Craig Gordon as senior editor. Gordon brings over 20 years of post experience to his new position. Prior to joining DuArt, Gordon was HD specialist/editor for Brass Monkey Post (BMP), where he edited a wide range of projects, including commercials, feature films, corporate videos, promo packages, music videos, documentaries, episodic television and museum exhibitions.
