Desi makes the case for Lucy's innocence as she watches him from backstage, through the kitchen window of the Ricardos' apartment set. Her expression, enhanced by Je's lighting and camera work, make us feel Desi's words as a declaration of the love he genuinely does feel for Lucy. he audience erupts in applause, expressing their unwavering solidarity and support of Lucy. Desi oins his wife backstage to savor their hardwon victory, only to be confronted by Lucy with the evidence of his infidelity. his heartbreaking moment of personal betrayal in the immediate aftermath of their professional triumph perfectly culminates the complex narrative ourney of the film. I believe that the power of a film rests solidly on its screenplay, and my experience working with Aaron bears out the truth of this conviction. Building upon the clear and solid foundation of his words allowed each of us in the Art Department to discover and explore the subtle complexity of these two richlydrawn characters, the world they created in the hearts and homes of sixty million viewers, and the lessthanperfect life they shared behind the scenes.
