B E I N G T H E R I C A R D O S | P E R S P E C T I V E 9 9 I first worked with Aaron Sorkin twentyone years ago on the pilot episode of The West Wing. Like Being the Ricardos, The West Wing took its audience on a ourney behind the scenes of one of the most ubiquitous settings in contemporary American culture. When Stuart Besser, the line producer, contacted me about designing Being the Ricardos, he worried that I wouldn't be interested in a ob he described as recreating sets which someone else designed seventy years ago. In retrospect, I think that was his way of enticing me challenging me to come up with an original perspective on a setting which was already deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness. A.
