ADG Perspective

As an Easter egg, the Art Department recreated a wallpaper pattern from the cover of an edition of The Yellow Wallpaper, the book on which Roman Polanski based his screenplay for Rosemary's Baby. (A William Morris pattern, pink and rose, 1890.) We used this to paper the interior of the hallway closet, the room that leads to the discovery of the hidden basement. We ordered custom colored ocked wallpaper from New York and pieced together scanned samples of degraded wallpaper original to the location to recreate the walls that were shot during the pilot. We found vintage 1970s paper at Secondhand Rose and customized vintageinspired patterns from Astek. And fi nally, we created our own 1950s era Tahitian wallpaper for the tiki bar. Su ce to say, the amaing Art PA, Marie Marchant, essentially had a desk installed for her at Astek. One of the toughest aspects of working within a compressed prep schedule is the knowledge that the departments downstream can start to feel the pain early. David one was the set decorator on the pilot. He did a fantastic job and to my joy he continued on to the series. David understood what we were up against and put his head down. He and his buyer, Cheryl Murphy, went to work at amassing all that would soon pour into the sets. 1'6" R 10.5" R 5'-5" +8'-5" +8'-5" @ Floor Level for Camera Port Off Camera 8'-5" 8'-5" B 03 A 03 D 04 C 04 1'-0" 3'-0" 3'-0" 3'-10 1/2" 11'-7 3/4" 3'-0" 2'-0" 2'-0" R 2'-0" R 2'-0" R 2'-0" R 6'-2 3/4" 2'-0" 5" 3'-10 3/4" 5" 6'-4" 1'-0" 8 1/4" 11" 2'-8" 11 3/4" E 05 1'-4" 1/2" 1" 3'-3" 1'-0" 11'-6" To Dining Room To Dining Room To Back / Front Entry To Library KITCHEN Soffit Beam Upper Cabinets ICE BOX 3-0 x 6-8 3-0 x 6-8 3-0 x 6-8 3-0 x 6-8 3-0 x 6-8 3-0 x 6-8 2-8 x 6-8 COPPER RANGE HOOD COPPER RANGE HOOD COPPER RANGE HOOD COPPER RANGE HOOD METAL KITCHEN WINDOW 107 METAL KITCHEN WINDOW 107 Soffit Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves Wood Floating Shelves STOVE STOVE STOVE STOVE STOVE STOVE 3 09 1 07 2 07 1 09 2 09 1 08 METAL KITCHEN METAL KITCHEN METAL KITCHEN METAL KITCHEN 1'-2" 1'-2" 1'-2" 1'-2" 10'-0" 8'-8" KITCHEN HUTCH WITH SLIDING DOORS To Back / Front Entry 2'-0" 10'-1 1/2" 3'-6" 2'-3 1/2" 2'-3 1/2" 6'-0" 6'-0" 2'-0" 11'-11 1/4" 11'-11 1/4" 9'-2 1/2" 1 10 1 11 Floor Camera Port FORMICA MATTE FINNISH CURRY 448 2'-10" 2'-10" 2'-10" 2'-10" 2'-10" 2'-10" 2'-10" 10'-0" C E F D B A
