This ended up being linked with another idea that had been mulled over during the script development—this idea of multiple "Candymen" —unwilling martyrs who died at the hands of iolence. put together a series of lack men whose stories we could tell through the portraits, and painter Sherwin id rendered them beautifully, becoming more and more abstract as he moved into the last portraita selfportrait of nthony. ia later used these mens stories in the animation that anual inema created at the end of the film. Night Driver Gallery One of my favorite sets was the Night Driver allery, where nthony first shows his Say y ame piece. ith the amount of time needed and the stunt rigging, plus splashing fake blood around, didnt think we would get permission to close down a working gallery. isited a huge number of galleries in hicago, and took my favorite ideas from each one to integrate into the gallery design. was pretty adamant that it be a warehouse in the gallery district. hicagos neighborhoods are so distinctielooking, and wanted the eterior to feel belieable. fter a truly ehaustie search, the location manager ick afferty and his team found the perfect building, an old warehouse space with wood beams and a skylight uintessential to the hicago gallery look, right in the hub of the current gallery district. The building was ust a shell though, so the crew created every aspect of the gallery space, including the polished concrete oor and contemporary storefront entrance. or riannas art ehibition, we worked with curator ama alker, which was a total oy. ama is a deeply respected curator with roots in hicago. ecause of his inolement we were able to include real works by artists such as Theaster ates, Torkwase yson, rnold emp and grati by Tubs.
