Once the design concept was set, I met with eff ngel, the lighting designer, to discuss the possibility of using fog and light beams to enhance the set. dditional lighting was added to all the existing set columns and plexiglass sweeps. We worked together on the lighting of the contestant backing to make sure we could create many diff erent looks with color and light chases. uring the construction phase of the Celebrity Wheel of Fortune set, many items were not available due to the pandemic. Finishing materials needed to be changed, and the foot by foot by inch plexiglass panels for the large money plate sweeps had to be shipped from Texas, as there were none aailable in alifornia or surrounding states. espite the time constraints and distribution hurdles, the concept worked beautifully to elevate the set for the Celebrity Wheel of Fortune shows. These design elements were carried over into the oerall look of the Season set, but, unlike the primetime set, we brought all the color, light illumination and movement that I have always used in designing the set for the syndicated version of the show. Once the producers approved a concept rendering, Jody drafted up the design, and the crew started building it in the shop. We added additional rings over the center video wall and over the puzzle board to match the new contestant backing.
