Everything in their collection is available on the site and can be viewed and downloaded at high resolution. They are, of course, known for their collection of art from the Dutch golden age, with extensive works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and a host of other masters from the 17th and 18th centuries. The museum also has specialized collections in arms and armour, model ships, dollhouses, and what has to be the best collection of locks and keys ever assembled. The website is set up both for specifi c searches and for browsing through the collections. The top set of links invite the visitor to explore the works by highlights, by artist, by type of work (paintings, sculpture, furniture, etc.), by style, subject and history. There are two ways to search the collection. You can use the typical search fi eld, which will return information on the works in the museum, this off ers an adanced search fi eld, where you can fi lter the results by era, style, techniue and many other criteria. You can also search the Rijks Studio, the main page where viewers browse the works of art. The Rijks Studio invites users to create their own collections, called sets. These are Pinterest-like pages where works from both inside and outside the museum are curated around some subject or interest. Searches of the Rijks Studio can focus on works or on sets, and can be further fi ltered by works in the museum, or from all sources. (Images from outside sources are often not available for download.) The museum will ask viewers to set up an account before allowing downloads. t only reuests a name and email address, or Facebook can be used to log in. The beauty of the Rijks Museum website is it is eually capable of letting you browse at your leisure, discovering the many treasures in the collection, or will support detailed searches, helping fi nd the specifi c infromation or image needed.
