Set in the far future and described as a triumph of the imagination, "Dune" takes place on the desert planet of Arrakis. It follows the fortunes of Paul Atreides, the young heir to a noble family tasked by the Emperor to rule a barren planet that offers an exclusive supply of Melange, a valuable s p i c e s a i d to b e c a p a b l e o f u n l o c k i n g humanity's greatest potential. The story ex- plores the complex interactions of politics, technology and human emotion, together with a secretive female order of the Bene Gesserit. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides and Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. The sound team was tasked with making this space fantasy as sonically realistic as possible. It was headed up by supervising sound editors/sound designers Mangini and Green, working closely with re-recording mixers Ron Bartlett, CAS handling dialog and music, and Doug Hemphill overseeing sound effects; the quartet also collaborated SOUNDS GOOD: Ron Bartlett, left, Tanya LaPointe, Mark Mangini and Denis Villenueve.
