THE PLAZA HOTEL PIONEER PARK, El Paso, TX O riginally opening its doors in the 1930s as the El Paso Hilton, The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park, an Independent Collection Hotels & Resorts property, was the ninth and tallest hotel in Conrad Hilton's fledgling chain. The hotel served as corporate headquarters into the 1940s and was the last major design commission for Henry C. Trust, who designed an Art Deco hotel tower crowned with a Ludowici clay tile pyramidal roof for Hilton that would hold the place as El Paso's tallest skyscraper for 24 years. The hotel was also once home to the legendary Elizabeth Taylor, who lived in the penthouse suite during her marriage to Conrad "Nicky" Hilton. The hotel attracted all kinds of Hollywood glamour and through a recently completed $78M+ renovation project by El Paso legend Paul Foster, the hotel has been fully renovat- ed (with the exception of the original facade) with highlights including remodeled guest rooms, dynamic public spaces, two upscale F&B concepts and more. The hotel's signature dining experience, Ámbar Restaurante, showcases centuries-old Mexican recipes with a regionally driven twist and serves as the meeting point of the cultures, tradition seen in El Paso and neighboring Ciudad Juarez. Ámbar also boasts North America's largest agave spirits collection with more than 800 bottles available. The rooftop lounge, La Perla, was once the location Elizabeth Taylor's penthouse and offers masterfully crafted cocktails, bites and unbeatable views of Ciudad Juarez, New Mexico and Texas. The Plaza offers nearly 7,600 square feet of meeting and event space punctuated by artwork by Mexican National and Texas artists. The hotel's historic ballroom has been carefully preserved along with the mezzanine area on the second floor and boasts 2,815 square feet of event space. La Perla also offers stunning outdoor event space while Ámbar features a private dining room. For more information, visit https://www.plazahotelelpa - so.com.
