Dialogue re-recording mixer David Barber MPSE (facing) and sound designer & re-recording mixer Peter Albrechtsen MPSE collaborate on the mix stage in Copenhagen. RM: Yeah, 12 days. PA: And then there's the sound editing which was also pretty short. I think it was 10 weeks, maybe. Two, three weeks of dialogue editing and then the rest for effects and a week of Foley with Heikki. He just told me that we have a 10-year anniversary now. We have done more than 100 movies together. It is pretty extraordinary. So, I mean, I'm spotting things for him to do and then he works from that. And then he's got Ryan's dialogue edit and works from that. He also gets my sound designs so that he can hear that. If there's sequences which are more abstract, then instead of only looking at the visuals, then he is also listening to the rhythm of sound design elements and doing the Foley so that it fits with that instead of being only matched to the visual scene. David, I think you pre-mixed for three days dialogue pre-mix. DB: Correct. PA: Then Robert came over to Copenhagen for three days a couple of weeks before mixing so that we could go through things together. Yeah, so we did this whole thing in a little more than two months. But the thing was that from when we started till when we finished, it was more like half a year. So that means that we had the time to collect a lot of sound. Michael Raphael recorded a lot of wind sounds that's also really a big part of the soundtrack. He did some great stuff as well. And I connected with him very early when I saw the first shots of the location because I just knew, "Okay, we need a lot of wind for this film." So, in that sense, kind of having that sign means that I can do a lot of research and have the time to find a good team to work with me, so yeah. A pretty short schedule but at the same time, a flexible schedule where you have the creative time you need to do something like this. MA: It's an impressive soundtrack, especially considering the time frame that you had. I hope that everyone gets to experience the amazing creativity that went into this soundtrack. It's been an absolute pleasure talking with all of you. Thank you for your time. RM: Thank you. DB: Thank you. That's great to hear. PA: Thank you so much.
