It is ith mied feelings that I announce m retirement on December 31, 2021. I am ver leased to sa that Brigitta omanov ill be steing into the role of Eecutive Director on m dearture. e have orked ver close l these last si ears and I have total con dence in her abilit to hel lead this Local into the future. She is not onl smart, hardorking, and dedicat ed but has a real love for unionism and the bene ts e derive from being members of this union. She ill be oined b our ne Assistant Eecutive Director, Doug Bone. I have knon Doug for man ears through his ork ithin the IATSE. e ill be an asset to Brigitta and this Guild. In m 1 ears reresenting ou I have had man oortunities to ork closel ith ou on the contract and other ork issues and have come to kno man of ou as dear friends. I orked ith three residents Deborah Landis, Mar ose, and Salvador erez and have learned from all of them. I am eseciall roud of m collaboration ith resident erez and the sitting board at that time in the urchase of our building. This ste into the future has alread held man hidden bene ts. e are a central gathering sace for man IATSE events as ell as our on. I feel that under the guidance of resident erez e have rocketed into the ublic ee and the accomlishments under his residenc have been astounding. I thank him for his tireless e orts on behalf of all of ou. During m tenure e have gron from ust over 00 members to almost 1300 members. As e gre our needs in the offi ce also gre. e had to of us in the offi ce hen I began and no, e have full time ersonnel and man art time ositions. I ish to thank everone that orked in the offi ce during m time for their suort and friendshi. I ould like to make a secial thank ou to Suzanne untington ho began ust months after I did and has been b m side through all the struggles, challenges, and accomlishments of these 1 ears. She is a dear friend and colleague and a tremendous asset to this Guild. I am roud that during m time as our chief negotiator in contracts here to ver imortant gains ere made. irst, in 2018 ith the increase of bene t hours for a th and th da from hours, and 8 hours resectivel to 12 hours for both. Secondl, in the 2021 contract the increase of eekl ension bene ts from 0 hours to 0 hours or 1 hours dail.
