Backdraft is a 1991 action thriller about two brothers who do not really get along but have to work together as firefighters in hicago. hown here are two unsigned sketches done in opaque watercolor on illustration board showing the firefighters in action. Albert Brenner, the Production Designer, is quoted as saying, "What to do with take two, after you've burned the set The production used fire retardant paint to slow the destruction of the sets and allow them to be filmed as long as possible. Brenner began his career creating window displays for major New York department stores. He attended ale rama chool of Graduate tudies as a scenic design major after he was an Air Force gunner during WWII. He began his career teaching scenic design, costume design and technical theater at the University of Kansas ity in Missouri until the late 's, when he moved back to New York and worked in theater and on early television shows like The Phil Silvers Show and Car 54, Where Are You? before moving into feature films. Mr. renner has been nominated for five Academy Awards: The Sunshine Boys , The Turning Point , California Suite , 2010: The Year We Make Contact , Beaches and received the AG Lifetime Achievement Award.
