She recently won the Best Production Design Award (Platinum) at Independent Shorts Awards Indie hort Fest for her thesis fi lm. She is currently working on ABC's Abbott Elementary S1 as an Art Department Assistant under Production Designer Michael Whetstone and has previously worked as an Art Department. intern under Production Designer Dave Blass, for the upcoming series Safe Haven and for the hit Bollywood movie Kedarnath (2018), under Production Designer Mayur Sharma. Rupali was a fellowship recipient at Chapman's Dodge College and graduated with an MFA in Production Design. Rachel grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where her passion for the performing and visual arts began. Originally pursuing a career in teaching sculpture and installation art, she discovered her love for Production Design while volunteering to make props in the cinematic arts program at Ausa acifi c niversity. There she earned her BFA in visual art, with an emphasis in sculpture, and a minor in fi lm and television production. After several years of work in the Art Department on award-winning projects, she went on to earn her MFA in Production Design from the American Film Institute, where she developed her skills in project management, Set Design and set construction. Rachel is currently living and working in Los Angeles, pursuing a career in Set Design. For as long as Emy can remember, she's had a fascination for taking intangible ideas, words and emotions and translating them into something physical that other people can experience. This expressive desire led to theatre, then later, the fi lm industry, because of the incredible storytelling power of these media. When she entered the fi lm industry, she knew that the Art epartment, specifi cally the role of an Art Director, was where she wanted to be. Every bit of her professional energy has been focused toward understanding the role and responsibility of Art Direction in creating stories. She looks toward every project, every experience, as an opportunity to develop as a designer, as a visual storyteller, and is excited by every chance to bring a new story to life. A.
