With a career spanning over 40 years, Patricia Fay has spent that time well in bringing fantastic locations to our screens. A well-respected member of not just her location peers but the production community at large, her résumé lists work for studios such as Universal, Warner Bros., Columbia, and Amblin just to name a few, with an equally impressive list of creatives she's worked for and made their visual dreams a reality. Born in Seattle, she married after high school and was both the breadwinner and homemaker for her husband and four children. Starting as a local actress for local commercials such as Chevrolet, Prestone, and Antifreeze, she found her passion was to be part of the crew and not in front of the camera. Deciding to get formal training, Patricia took courses at the University of Washington and Bellevue Community College on film production, including sociology and the history of film, as well as obtaining experience working behind the camera finding her appeal and calling for locations. After working on a number of commercials and movies in her vicinity while she was based in Seattle, she realized that the real work and opportunities required her to look south and beyond. She might have not been the first woman working as a location scout and manager but as an early member of Teamsters Local 399 in the 1970's, it was sure a rarity. Yet with the support of her Teamster brothers, Patricia established a reputation as a top-notch scout and a top location manager with a talent as a real problem solver. Her hard work and dedication led her to getting to work with some of the creative industry heavyweights of her time. If the measure of one's legacy is not leaving something for people, it's leaving something in people. The long list of incredible location professionals who she has mentored and discovered is proof of that. Patricia Fay left her imprint on the industry for some time to come; for that alone makes her the definition of the word Trailblazer. PATRICIA FAY EXEMPLIFIES ALL THE ATTRIBUTES OF A GREAT LOCATION MANAGER … A GREAT EYE. TENACIOUS. FAIR YET FIRM. DRIVEN YET PATIENT. ORGANIZED. HONEST. ETHICAL. FIERY YET COMPASSIONATE. HER GREATEST ATTRIBUTE MIGHT BE THAT SHE HAS TAUGHT MANY OF US BY EXAMPLE. AFTER WORKING WITH HER ON SEVEN FILMS, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY TIMES THAT I THINK 'WHAT WOULD PATRICIA DO IF SHE WAS CONFRONTED WITH THIS SITUATION?' I'VE NEVER GONE WRONG WHEN I LOOK AT IT FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE." –MIKE FANTASIA/LMGI L O C AT I O N M A N A G E R S G U I L D I N T E R N AT I O N A L 8 t h A N N U A L L M G I A W A R D S 4 3 "
