14 • LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2021 Locations Behind the Emmys A special panel produced by the LMGI convened on August 2 to coincide with this year's Emmy® festivities to spotlight the role of locations on eight of this year's Emmy- nominated TV shows. The lively discussion was moderated by JJ Levine/ LMGI, 1st Vice President, and Miguel Tapia/LMGI. Panelists included Taylor Boyd/LMGI ( Black-ish), Anne Richardson/LMGI (The Handmaid's Tale), Jonathan Jansen/LMGI (Perry Mason), Jennifer Dunne/LMGI (The Mandalorian), Kyle "Snappy" Oliver/LMGI (The Kominsky Method), Brian O'Neill/LMGI (Mare of Easttown), Duffy Taylor/LMGI (This Is Us) and Drazen Baric/LMGI (The Boys). In addition to being Emmy nominees, Mare of Easttown and The Handmaid's Tale are LMGI Award nominees this year for Best Contemporary Television, while Perry Mason was recognized last year, winning the LMGI Award for Best Period Television. A professional comaraderie quickly developed amongst the panelists. The common challenges faced by all the location pros transcended the miles that separated them. Please visit the LMGI website www.locationmanagers.org to view the panel discussion. LMGI 'Home Again' for Comic-Con 2021 Organizers of Comic-Con International 2021 decided to play it safe again and go virtual. The wildly popular convention for enthusiasts of comic books, comic book heroes and all other aspects of popular fantasy presented a weekend of programming with Comic-Con@Home series of exciting online panels. And for the ninth year in a row, the LMGI was there! Our popular "Hollywood Location Scouts" panel shared a behind-the-scenes look at the shows we work on with the enthusiastic fans who love and support them. Moderated by LMGI President John Rakich ( See, American Gods), this year's panel included members from the United Kingdom, Canada and both coasts of the United States. Featuring the works of Evan Chan ( Supernatural, Legion), Saisie Jang (Ant-Man & the Wasp, Hulk), Tisha Jefferson (Mare of Easttown, Straight Outta Compton), Emma Jane Richards (Pennyworth, Fighting With My Family) and Dodd Vickers (Sharp Objects, Den of Thieves). The panel addressed the creative and logistical challenges in successfully bringing their projects to the screen. Thanks go to our incredible sponsors. The generous support of the Big Bear Lake Film Office, Inland Empire Film Services, Riverside County Film Commission and the Temecula Film Office is an integral part of our ongoing Comic-Con participation. We're already planning next year's panel, building on the amazing success we've had with Comic-Con over the years. We hope 2022 will allow us all to celebrate in person! The sizzle reel and full panel discussion can be viewed online at https:// locationmanagers.org/comic -con/ or on the LMGI YouTube channel.
