Attendees from a variety of organizations including law enforcement, victim services, corrections, religious and social services, educational institutions and concerned citizens will come together to discuss innovated ideas and strategies. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi explains that the organization as a whole is committed to "profiling national initiatives and community strategies that have been successful in reducing violence and other inappropriate behavior." The organization reports that a major component of the program will be directed toward alternatives to violence among young people. Over 1,100 people attended the Tampa, FL convention last year. The National Association of Black Accountants will host their annual convention and expo at The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN on June 5-8, 2013. The organization states that more than 2,000 NABA members from corporate executives, managers, student scholars, and entrepreneurs are expected to attend. This year's theme will be "Transforming Minds – Developing Leaders and Building Business." The convention will include leadership training, technical sessions and financial education workshops to name a few. Past conventions have been held in Phoenix (2011), Orlando (2010) and Houston (2009). Upcoming destinations include Washington, D.C. (2014), Las Vegas, NV (2015) and Hollywood, FL (2016). Please visit www.nabainc.org to learn more. The Hyatt Regency New Orleans will be the destination to celebrate the 100 Black Men of America's 27th annual convention taking place June 5-9, 2013. This year's theme is "Optimizing Health & Wellness: Mind, Body and Spirit." The organization's mission is to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all A f r i c a n Americans. The members continue to be grounded based on four percepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice, and integrity. More than 3,000 delegates are expected to attend. Numerous networking and education opportunities will be available to engage with mentors, health & wellness experts, educators, leading entrepreneurs, corporate and nonprofit executives. Past conventions have been held in Atlanta, GA (2012), San Francisco, CA (2011) and Ft. Lauderdale (2010). Future destinations include: New Orleans, LA (2014) Hollywood, FL (2015) and Houston, TX (2016). Stop by www.100blackmen.org to register. The distinguished men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will come together in Austin, TX from June 26-30, 2013 to celebrate their 107th Anniversary/92nd General Convention at the Hilton Austin Hotel. A gathering of over 4,500 attendees is expected. Numerous workshops, seminars, networking events and educational training opportunities will be available. In addition, the convention will also hosts events such as the Miss Black & Gold Pageant, Hobart Jarrett Debate Competition, Collegiate Scholars Bowl Competition and the National Collegiate Step Show to name a few.
