60 I m ps e . o rg MIGUEL ARAUJO: I'd like to start with a question to get to know each of you a little better before we dive into the film. How did you get to this point in your careers and what led you to the The Killing of Two Lovers? ROBERT MACHOIAN: I didn't start making films until I was a lot older, I was about 24 when I went back to school to get a degree in filmmaking. And so, I of course, did the traditional kind of routes of school. Then I went to an art grad school because I wanted to be able to make films, and not really have to take courses in the process of making films and so I got an art degree, which is really great, because then I was able just to constantly be making work, which I really liked. While I was an undergrad, I met Rodrigo Ojeda-Beck and he and I made films for about 10 years together. We're still making films together. Then, with one of the films, When She Runs, Laura Heberton came on as the producer of that film. She had produced an earlier film that we had made together. On that film, she introduced us to Peter. She was like, "Hey, maybe we should send this film to Peter." And then she did. So that was our initial introduction.
