50 I m ps e . o rg You made the transition from film to digital navigating your way, maybe first trying that weird AMS or that wonky Fairlight from the future, then Cyberframe, the goofy Fostex with a control screen so tiny you had to use chopsticks to push command buttons because your fingers were too big, you conquered countless versions of Pro Tools and whatever other weird of the moment system was happening. You did all that on the fly without going to school for it. You were parked in front of one of those things, figured them out with help from a friend and just kept on cutting. You've put in your 60/30, are somewhere in your sixties and are maybe starting to wonder, "Is it time?" I'm here to tell you, don't be afraid. It's okay. You're gonna be fine. If you've come seeking financial advice or ways to navigate the sometimes complicated post-work medical alleyways, you've come to the wrong place. You need to find your own Maureen O'Connell Yoda for that. Hopefully, you either married well or planned a little. It's not that I got too old to do what we do, I just got too old to want to do it. We're all different. I get that. Some want to get out as soon as they are financially able and some want to do it until they drop. I understand those that want to do it until their wrinkled, arthritic, carpel tunnel affected fingers can't roll that track ball another inch. That ain't me. It's not a normal job and I think it attracts mostly right-brained artsy creative people who need an Skyfall mix stage, De Lane Lea London
