The 3110S has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and a color gamut that can reach more than 99 percent of DCI-P3, as well as 80 percent of BT2020. The 3110S's usable panel life is up to 30,000 hours. Konvision says the 3110S is well suited for a number of production and post applications, including quality control, 4K color grading and on-set monitoring. The unit has a resolution of 3,840x2,160 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It supports the import of users' 3D LUTs, and a side-by-side function allows users to compare the differences between HDR and SDR on the same screen. Monitoring tools include a 4K HDR waveform, vectorscope and black stretch. A number of Sony, Canon and Arri SDR and HDR log curves are also supported. NEW PLANAR DISPLAYS OPTIMIZED FOR ON-CAMERA VIRTUAL PRODUCTION PORTLAND, OR — Planar (www.planar.com) recently introduced the CarbonLight VX Series, a line of LED display solutions designed specifically for the virtual production (VP) and extended reality (XR) markets. Featuring a lightweight, carbon-fiber construction, the CarbonLight VX Series includes two product lines: the CarbonLight CLI VX Series and CLF VX Series. The CLI VX Series supports hanging, wall-mounted, free-standing and curved LED video wall installations, in addition to other unique shapes that are intended to help smaller stages appear larger. This includes 90-degree corners, which are made possible by the series' beveled edges. Available in 1.9 and 2.6 millimeter pixel pitches, the Planar CarbonLight CLI VX Series features models with Brompton VP controllers. The CarbonLight CLF VX Series LED flooring features a 2.6mm pixel pitch and can be used to create a high resolution contin- uous canvas for on-camera scenes, virtually expanding physical environments. The Planar CarbonLight VX Series began shipping in July and is available through Planar's global network of authorized resellers. LOOKING GLASS FACTORY DEBUTS NEW HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAYS BROOKLYN, NY & HONK KONG — Looking Glass Factory (Look.glass) has a new line of holographic displays that allow multiple people to view 3D content simultaneously. Looking Glass Portrait had a successful Kickstarter campaign in December of 2020 and January of 2021. The second-generation 4K and 8K systems deliver a similar design, with technology built from the ground up for better viewing, portability and affordability. "Our goal with this new generation of holographic interfaces was to create systems that were more accessible to anyone interested in communicating ideas with lifelike realism," explains Shawn Frayne, CEO of Looking Glass Factory. "From Looking Glass Portrait to our Looking Glass 8K Gen2 interface, we are offering a lineup that meets the needs of individuals and enterprises alike." The newest generation of Looking Glass systems consists of three new hardware products: Looking Glass Portrait; Looking Glass 4K Gen2, with its 15.6-inch display; and Looking Glass 8K Gen2, with its 32-inch display. The most notable difference is in the hardware itself, which is now blockless, meaning the screen is thinner, the hardware is lighter weight, and the holograms float out of the screen. Improved optics decrease ambient reflections, making group viewability easier. In addition, the 4K system can operate in standalone mode (similar to Looking Glass Portrait), making it easier-to-use and more portable than the first generation system. Looking Glass has also upgraded and standardized its software, including upgrades to its plug-ins for Unity, Unreal and Blender. All systems will now also run on Looking Glass's new holographic companion application HoloPlay Studio, a purpose-built software application for easy viewing, editing and sync- ing of holographic media. Looking Glass Portrait is available for $299, and the new Looking Glass 4K Gen2 is $3,000. 8K Gen2 units have a promotional price of $15,000.
