Working together with costume designers, we transform their visions into one-of-a-kind costumes for stage and screen. Elizabeth Estervig IG: @elizabeth.estervig estervig.comportfolio In high school Elizabeth Estervig planned to study medicine, to follow the academic bent of her family. Her mother convinced her to pursue her passion for clothing. After graduate school at Ohio niversity, and on-the-job expe- rience in theater, opera, and fi lm, Estervig is a relative 'newbie' with only 21 years as a tailor. "With fi lm especially, I stand on the shoulders of giants," she says. She lists Jack Kasbarian, Michael Sloan, and Sharon McGunigle as men- tors, who helped her learn the subtleties of the trade. "I would be a fool not to greedily soak up every tidbit from masters." When asked what she loves about tailoring, Estervig enthuses, "The ratios and mathematics as well as the sub- tle beauty appeals to me. I love molding fabric through pad stitching and careful pressing into elegant, interesting 3D shapes." She believes once you understand the basics, learning to tailor is parabolica lot to learn at fi rst, then a fi ner and fi ner refi nement of skill. "To me, tai- loring is a reward in and of itself. The process is fun, the end product satisfying, and I get to work with some seriously wonderful people who spark imagination and ingenuity to make the best possible fi rst indication of character on screen: costumes."
