Summer fi nds us at a diff erent place in the pandemic. Work has contin- ued, masks have been stopped, and now taken up again. Regardless, I believe we are at a better place than we were a year ago and we are look- ing toward the end of this challenging time. I am so proud of our mem- bershipthe way they have put their hearts into serving their community and are now coming together to fi ght for pay equity and representation in marketing. As our membership is educated about how to negotiate for fair pay, we are seeing changes. At the o ce, we have heard many success stories about members receiving pay parity with production designers. If you would like to learn more, attend the pay equity town hall meetings, or listen to past meetings on the CDG imeo site. Pay equity is a long-term goal, so we must all band together to fi ght this battle. Our CDG o ces have opened back up, and we look forward to hosting in-person meetings when it is safe to do so again. We have seen how we all inspire each other, and we need to gather as a community to support each other. Despite being unable to meet, the CDG has participated in virtual Com- ic-Con and continued its important work supporting members both indi- vidually and through organizing productions. We have been holding vir- tual membership and committee meetings and we are staying connected and active. We had to reinvent our awards show this year and it was a huge success. We are already working on plans for next year's show. We want to reimagine our awards going into our 24th year. Rachael Stanley has announced her retirement at the end of the year. She has been with the CDG for 17 years. I have enjoyed working with Rachael as a Board member and as CDG President over the last eight years. I am very proud of the legacy we have created. She will be sorely missed. Bri- gitta Romanov will be taking over as our executive director, so we will be looking to hire a new assistant executive director at the end of the year.
