9 We finally completed the long overdue redesign of the CD website. We aimed to re ect the diversity and richness of the CD membership and heritage and are so excited for the members and the community to experience this exciting representation of our art. ecause we loved the new website so much, we wanted to bring that energy to all CD me dia. We asked the designers, ok Creative, to partner with CD Communi cations Director Anna Wyckoff for a fresh take on The Costume Designer magazine. This issue is part of the new vision for the CD. ur feature article is about the incredible Ann oth. The words legend and icon are used uite often in ollywood, but Ann is the epitome of those words. Not only does she have an incredible body of work, but her career also continues and ourishes, and at a level we would all aspire to achieve. She recently won her second scar at the age of and shows no signs of slowing down. There is this misconception that we will become obsolete and be forced into retirement, but we all need to take a page out of Ann's playbook and realize we can continue to ourish in our careers as long as we stay relevant and inspired. ur Costume Designers uild Awards had to adapt to the pandemic so we went virtual. It was sad not to be able to celebrate with our peers, but I am so happy we were able to continue to celebrate the art of costume design. The CDA is known as the best party in town, but it's always been a party just for us. We streamed the awards on Twitter and over a million people worldwide were able to join in the celebration. ne of the reasons we started the awards was to draw attention to the work of our community and get us more visibility. We certainly achieved our goal. We learned a lot of this experience and we look forward to building on it in the future. With the availability of vaccines, the worst of the pandemic seems to be coming under control. Most of us are back to work. I think we will keep some of the protocols to stay healthy. It's been great to work and not see the u passed around the set, so masks may continue to have a pres ence in our lives for a while. We hope to have inperson membership meetings again by the fall and we are even planning a CD mixer. We are a community and we are stronger when we work together. We recently had a pay euity town hall, and it was very informative for many members. As we continue our fight for pay euity, we all need to keep the dialogue going. ur salaries don't need to be a secret. We are never going to achieve pay parity until everyone knows how we are paid and the industry finally pays us our worth. Please join the Pay uity Committee. We all need to join this fight.
