13 Can we celebrate now alf of all os Angeles residents have received at least one CID vaccination. That is worth celebrating. The pandem ic changed our lives. After nearly a year of work stoppages we eagerly look forward to full productivity. ut what will that take and what does it look like estarting normal will reuire the full cooperation of all our industry workers. Contract negotiations between IATS and the ollywood Producers Asso ciation are working to reach diversity in the fi lm industry. It reuires all of us participating to be achieved. We already have a diverse membership in many of our ollywood locals but the locals don't do the hiring, the pro ducers do. There needs to be a reporting mechanism in place as hires are made, so IATS locals can determine the number of members working and the diversity that hire represents. It's a bit tricky in that we want hires to be determined by the individual talent of those hired on a career path. And not just fi lling a job description but rather striving for a diversity that is color blind and racially tolerant. Diversity reuires euity that is racially, socially, and economically in balance with our society as a whole. No more men's work vs. women's work. It's all of us working on a solid founda tion of access to healthcare, education, and economic safety and security. Why does voting matter now Many companies fi nd it profi table to disre gard rules. ules matter and laws need to keep up with advances in our economic future growth, ensuring working families are not at a disadvan tage. ule breakers must be held accountable by passing and amending laws, and also sunset outdated laws that harm our ability to achieve the basics of economic safety and security. The iden administration has a plan to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure that is going to take all of us in the labor market to get involved. y voting in every election on our city councils and school boards, running for o ce in our communities, and staying in contact with our state and federal legislatures, we can achieve an infrastructure that serves today's needs as well as the future, built around closing the gap climate change created over the past plus years. We are out of time for talk about change. It is time for us to be the change we want to see.
