I ' M Y O U R W O M A N | P E R S P E C T I V E 6 5 I'm Your Woman is the story of a woman and her baby who are torn from her upscale suburban home and a husband she thought she knew after he betrays his partners in crime. She and the baby are set on a dangerous journey to save their lives, with only one link to the outside world through a man she doesn't even know named Cal. Early on with an overall budget around $16 million, I knew there would be more filming on location than sets built on stage. The production began looking at cities that hadn't gone too far down the path of gentrification, like Detroit and Buffalo, to serve this 10s story. But when Rachel Brosnahan signed, the shooting schedule pushed later into fall and winter owing to her schedule on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. We then saw the wisdom in looking a little farther south to avoid too many blizzards. After reviewing film oce websites and scouting via Google maps, we fell in love with the historic neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, and surrounding cities like McKeesport and Braddock. Julia, Jordan and I then went on a preliminary scout, along with line producer Bart Lipton, to make the final determination. Thanks to Bart, who got location manager John Adkins on board, we lined up several choices for larger locations to visit, and Pittsburgh won us over as the right place to make the movie. We also discovered rebate advantages to building on stage and backlots, eventually landing us at Churchill Studios with the bucolic wooded areas needed to build a secluded cabin. Since I'd never worked in Pittsburgh, that early scout also served for meetings with local crew. I'd reached out to friends and colleagues who had worked there for names and felt exceedingly lucky that veteran Art Director Gary osko was available and interested, as were Set Designer ate Dougherty, Art Department coordinator Maggie Adams and Graphic Artist Brad Towell. Joined by Art Department PA Lucas Estevez, we made up a A. JEAN'S SUBURBAN HOME. B. JEAN AND HARRY IN THE SAFE HOUSE. PRODUCTION STILLS BY WILSON WEBB. B
