This was also the perfect setting for the denouement scene between Danvers and the second Mrs. de Winter, within the sparse luxury of the room, all the watery satins and silks, bevelled mirrors running down the corners. The colour palette reecting the colours of the grey sea, apart from the deep red of the rhododendrons and roses that Mrs. Danvers replaces daily. It is a space that Rebecca created for herself and the final piece of decoration within it had to be herself. As much as one feels her presence everywhere here, they must also feel the lack of her. But lest we forget that this story begins in idyllic South of France and Monte Carlo, which incredibly is where it was shot! The production found what used to be a hotel and was now an apartment block that was brought back to its former glory as a hotel. Together with this were found the most amazing locations around Nice, Antibes and Monaco, that part was the absolute treat If you have to shoot locations in the South of France, then really life isn't too bad!
