Bits & Pieces HCS’s greenscreen stage staying busy L OS ANGELES — Just over a year ago, Hollywood Center Studios (www.hollywoodcenter. com) converted one of its three cyc stages to a dedicated greenscreen stage, and the space has proven popular with producers and DPs because of its large size and its deep three-wall hard-cove cyc configuration.The stage was painted Rosco Chroma Key Green, allowing visual effects artists to easily pull clean mattes. “The stage is pre-painted, pre-lit and maintained in immaculate condition so production companies can come in and shoot visual effects elements with mini- mal preparation,” notes Hollywood Center Studios VP of marketing, Richard Schnyder.“There are few stages like it that are both dedicated for greenscreen and big enough to accommodate large elements like cars and trucks.” The stage was recently used by Moving Parts to create an identity cam- paign for E!.Visual effects house Engine Room also used the stage while work- ing on Sony commercial. Hollywood Center Studios also built a virtual set stage that uses NewTek’s This dedicated greenscreen stage is large enough to house cars and trucks.
