Obviously, it has slowed down production and thus post-production has followed. The free time has allowed us to reconnect with family and friends. Yes, it was remotely, but it was a unique time in one's life to start to catch up with people you have been too busy to make contact with until now. Perhaps you caught up with some relatives and some childhood friends and I doubt that would have happened otherwise. You might have spent more time around the house fi xing things and improving your studio for when work returned, anticipating working from home for a while. I know a lot of my friends did the same. You might have learned new things about yourself. It was a time of refl ection. This pandemic will be one of those stories you tell your children and grandchildren. I learned new skills while at home. Explored some new interests. How many people took up new hobbies or took the opportunity to get in shape or reconnect with their spouse or children. I hope you all did. Perhaps you called Mom and Dad or the kids every day. A pause in life gives you an opportunity to reevaluate priorities. The MPSE has also had to cancel in-person events and these events were a major benefi t of membership. We did the only logical thing which was to take all events online. This is when a strange thing happened. We knew that we were going to get more international interaction, but we weren't prepared for how much. We see people from all over the planet logging into our live "Sound Advice" events and our analytics on our Facebook page are surprisingly diverse. Our reach as an organization was always international, but it is even more so now. Our sense of community has also grown. If you log in to an MPSE event, you now recognize members from all over the globe. We have opened our "Sound Advice" events up temporarily to non-members and we see new faces from around the planet. It really shows us how much of an international footprint the MPSE has and the need for sound people to be connected throughout the world, today more than ever. This international theme will be carried over to our Golden Reel Awards. We will have both attendees, as well as guests from around the world to help celebrate the talents and achievements of our members this year. We can't wait to share the lineup with you and we certainly hope you will attend. We have big plans to incorporate an amazing networking opportunity into our show to make it easy to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, just like when you come to the live awards show. Networking and a sense of worldwide community is what we are after in this COVID age. We are looking forward to the new expanded MPSE climate, as well as to what 2021 will bring us. We hope you are looking forward to it too and we hope you will join us at all of our upcoming events.
